State Water Infrastructure Authority Awards Funding for Infrastructure Improvements
McGill Assisted in Securing Over $11 Million for Communities
On February 10, 2021, the State Water Infrastructure Authority approved $282 million in loans and grants for infrastructure improvements across North Carolina. For more details, see the press release from Governor Roy Cooper.
McGill secured over $11 million in funding in the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) fall 2020 round for 8 communities. These funds were allocated from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), Asset Inventory and Assessment (AIA) grant program, and Merger / Regionalization Feasibility (MRF) program.
- Bryson City, Hot Springs, Saluda, and Sparta received AIA grants to assist their water and wastewater utilities in becoming more viable and proactive in the management and financing of their systems.
- Murphy, Rose Hill, and St. Pauls received an MRF grant to study and evaluate the potential consolidation and / or interconnection with another regional wastewater treatment or regional water supply.
- St. Pauls received close to $5.6 million in funding to replace and relocate its wastewater treatment plant, pump station, and force main outside of a flood plain.
- Reidsville received $4.6 million in funding to install 30,900 linear feet of transmission main, providing additional connections to water distribution system, new meter vault, valves, and hydrants.
