McGill Knoxville Staff Participates in Knoxville Canstruction Event
Staff from our McGill Associates’ Knoxville office participated in the annual Knoxville Canstruction event on December 4. This annual event brings together architects, engineers, and construction firms to create sculptures out of canned goods that are put on display at the Knoxville Convention Center. The canned goods are later broken down and donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.
The team enjoyed camradarie and community service through de-canning for the University of Tennessee Department of Engineering team. Knoxville staff disassembled sculptures, sorted the cans by type, returned the cans to cartons, and stacked the cartons pallets for transport to Second Harvest.
“We are honored to be part of such a meaningful event,” said McGill Associates’ employee Julie Wilson. “This year’s Canstruction provided 32,000 cans to Second Harvest. That is one tractor-trailer load full that will be delivered today for distribution to the needy in the Knoxville area.”
