McGill Christmas Party
A Time for Reflection and Looking to the Future
McGill held its annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at The Venue in Asheville, North Carolina. The party was a highly anticipated event and a unique opportunity for the nine McGill offices to celebrate together. The evening kicked off with cocktail hour, followed by dinner and employee recognitions, then wrapped up with dancing.
Prior to dinner, Joel Storrow, President of McGill, reflected on 2019 successes. These included launching a refreshed brand and relocating the Cary office to Raleigh, North Carolina. Multiple employees were honored throughout the evening. New hires were introduced through a fun fact trivia game and four new babies were introduced through pictures to the McGill family.
In addition, three employees received milestone service awards:
- Mark Cathey, Asheville Office Manager, for 20 years of service
- Bill Roark, Raleigh Office Manager, for 20 years of service
- Daniel Griffee, Electrical Engineer in the Asheville office, for 10 years of service
One of the highlights of the evening was the Board of Directors’ special presentation to Joel Storrow, honoring his exemplary service and leadership at McGill. Joel has served as president for 19 years and will transition into a new role on January 1, 2020.
During Joel’s tenure as president, the firm doubled its number of employees and expanded from four offices in 2001 to nine offices in 2019. Additionally, under Joel’s leadership, McGill increased service offerings to include surveying, land planning and recreation, electrical engineering, mechanical and plumbing engineering, water resources, environmental services, marketing, and funding assistance.
Andy Lovingood, Vice President, has been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as McGill’s next president, only the third in the firm’s history.
The Christmas party is always a great way to reflect upon and close the year as we prepare for a new one. We are continuously thankful for the partnerships we have forged through the years and look forward to what the new year brings for our company, staff, and the communities we serve.
