City of Morristown Receives $500,000 Site Development Grant

In the latest round of funding awards from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the City of Morristown learned that it had received a Site Development Grant worth $500,000 for the construction of a roadway for its East Tennessee Progress Center Park. The site, intended for new businesses operations and job growth, secured $500,000 in funds to offset the cost of the construction of a roadway, which is projected at $604,000. The Town was one of 18 Tennessee communities and local organizations that received a portion of the total $6.2 million in Site Development Grant awards.

McGill Associates assisted the Morristown Industrial Development Board (IDB) with the grant application, which included the extension of 3,400 feet of industrial roadway and the reconfiguration of 500 feet of existing roadway to create access to several of the City’s prime industrial sites.The $565,000 project will be jointly designed and constructed with a previously awarded Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) InvestPrep roadway and site stabilization project, for which McGill Associates also assisted the City obtain funding. This joint act will offset design and construction costs by $140,000.
