Rafters and Kayakers Enjoying the New Pigeon River Boat Launch

McGill Associates assisted Cocke County Tennessee with the construction of two concrete plank boat launches to support the popular local commercial rafting businesses and to provide a public access for non-commercial users. The new boat launches provide much needed space and additional access for all users. We visited the river recently and found the launches being put to good use by many excited visitors of all ages. The site is located along Waterville Road, just west of the North Carolina state line, and directly below a Duke Energy hydroelectric facility. The scope of work included Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), US Army Corps of Engineers, and TVA permitting, surveying, preparation of construction drawings, construction observation, as-builts, and assistance administering a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant by TDEC.
